MethodsMental health inventory(MHI)for Chinese pilots and SCL-90 inventory was used to assess the mental health status of the pilots driving the third-generation and the second-generation battle planes. ResultsThere were especially obvious differences between the two groups in self-confidence, anxiety, optimism, somatization and vigor, i.e. the pilots driving the third-generation battle planes possessed comparatively low scores in all the above factors except vigor. There were obvious differences between the two groups in such factors as stress, emotional stability, melancholy and push-and-go. Conclusion The mental health status of the pilots driving the third-generation battle planes is better than that of those driving the second-generation ones.
